Pre-order: The House of Bisiach

The Story of a Family between Tradition, Trade and Violin Making

Pre-order now open

Florian Leonhard’s latest volume is devoted to the extraordinary history of the House of Bisiach. Arguably, no other family in modern Italian violin making has played a more decisive role in shaping the history of 20th century violin making. As makers, restorers and traders, the Bisiachs have dominated the Italian marketplace for two generations and played an active role on the international stage. This volume contains new research and revelations on this illustrious family, the result of more than three years of study. The substantial body of archival documents has brought many publicly unknown aspects of the various generations to life. It also presents some of the most representative output of Leandro Bisiach and his four sons, Andrea, Carlo, Giacomo and Leandro II, as well as their most important collaborators and pupils.
